Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Wet Utilities

Job Responsibilities

Design Management & Technical Leadership

  • Lead the design, coordination, and review of wet utilities networks, including potable water, TSE/irrigation, stormwater drainage, and sewer networks (gravity and pressurized).
  • Manage and supervise consultants and internal design teams to ensure timely and technically sound design delivery.
  • Review and approve design reports, hydraulic calculations, layouts, and construction drawings.
  • Ensure all designs comply with Dubai Municipality (DM) Infrastructure Design Guidelines, DEWA water standards, and RTA requirements.
  • Coordinate wet utilities designs with other infrastructure and architectural disciplines (roads, dry utilities, landscape).

Authority Coordination

  • Serve as the main point of contact with authorities such as DM, DEWA, RTA, and DDA for all wet utilities matters.
  • Manage and track authority submission and approval processes across all project stages.
  • Respond to authority comments and facilitate timely resolutions to ensure smooth project progress.

Project Delivery

  • Prepare and monitor design delivery schedules, ensuring compliance with project timelines and budgets.
  • Support the preparation and review of BOQs, technical specifications, and IFC packages.
  • Provide technical support and clarification during tendering and construction phases.
  • Participate in design coordination and progress meetings with consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.

Leadership & Management

  • Supervise and mentor a team of wet utilities design engineers and coordinators.
  • Manage consultant performance, scope control, and quality of deliverables.
  • Support project management in risk identification, mitigation planning, and decision-making processes.

Skills

  • Deep understanding of local authority regulatory framework for infrastructure approvals (RTA, DEWA, DM, etc.).
  • Excellent command of hydraulic modeling tools (e.g., Water GEMS, Sewer GEMS, InfoWorks).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and infrastructure design software.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Results-oriented with excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Role Specific Qualifications & Training

  • Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer accreditation.
  • Prior experience with developer-led masterplans or consultancy firms handling authority liaison.
  • Familiarity with GIS-based utilities data management systems.
  • Well experienced in management and design of wet utilities and relevant ancillary pump stations for large developments.

Educational Qualification

  • MSc or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering. Project Management certificate is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 10–12 years.

Computer and Software Proficiency

  • Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and electrical design tools.

Industries Acceptable

  • Consultant / Design Studio.
