Position Summary We are seeking a Head of Technical Accounting to lead the VEON Group’s IFRS strategy, provide technical accounting guidance, and ensure consistent application of international accounting standards across the organization. This senior role reports to the Group Director of Accounting & External Reporting and plays a critical role in shaping accounting policies, supporting complex transactions, and enabling informed decisions at the Group Executive Committee and Audit Committee levels. Key Responsibilities IFRS Expertise & Compliance Lead the consistent application of IFRS across VEON Group entities, ensuring technical accuracy and alignment with global accounting standards. Maintain and govern the VEON Accounting Manual and related policies and procedures. Provide technical guidance on complex IFRS matters including revenue recognition, lease accounting, impairments, financial instruments, and business combinations. Review and advise on accounting treatments for capital market transactions, group restructuring, acquisitions, and disposals. Support preparation of technical position papers and documentation for audit and internal governance. Leadership & Stakeholder Management Lead and develop a team of 2 IFRS senior managers, fostering a high-performance environment focused on quality and compliance. Collaborate with senior leaders across VEON OpCos and HQ functions (Treasury, Tax, Legal, Investor Relations, and Corporate Finance) to ensure alignment on technical accounting issues. Act as the primary IFRS subject-matter expert for internal stakeholders and external auditors. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, ACCA, or equivalent preferred. Extensive experience in technical accounting and IFRS across multinational organizations. Strong expertise in complex accounting topics such as revenue recognition, financial instruments, leases, and business combinations. Proven leadership skills and experience managing technical accounting teams.
