Construction Manager - MEP

Job Purpose

The MEP Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and managing all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) construction activities on-site. This includes planning, execution, monitoring, and handover of MEP systems to ensure the project is completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Planning & Coordination:
    • Plan, organize, and manage MEP works across all project phases.
    • Coordinate with civil, architectural, and structural teams to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems.
    • Review MEP design drawings, IFC drawings, shop drawings, and specifications.
    • Participate in project scheduling and resource planning activities.
  2. Site Execution & Supervision:
    • Lead the MEP site team, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely completion of works.
    • Monitor daily MEP site activities and progress against the approved schedule.
    • Ensure proper installation, testing, and commissioning of all MEP systems.
    • Enforce compliance with project quality and safety standards.
  3. Technical Quality Control:
    • Review technical submittals, material approvals, and method statements.
    • Conduct inspections and coordinate with QA/QC and consultants for work approvals.
    • Identify and resolve technical issues, design conflicts, and construction challenges.
    • Ensure all MEP works are executed in accordance with approved shop drawings and standards.
  4. Cost & Resource Management:
    • Monitor MEP budgets, track material consumption, and control wastage.
    • Verify subcontractor invoices and progress claims.
    • Optimize manpower, equipment, and materials utilization.
  5. Testing, Commissioning & Handover:
    • Oversee pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for all MEP systems.
    • Coordinate with third-party testing agencies and consultants.
    • Prepare as-built drawings and documentation.
    • Support project close-out and client handover.
  6. Coordination & Communication:
    • Attend regular coordination and progress meetings.
    • Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure alignment on all MEP-related matters.
    • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in MEP construction, with at least 5 years in managerial roles.
  • Proven experience in high-rise buildings, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems design, installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and authority regulations (ASHRAE, NFPA, BS, DEWA, ADDC, etc.).
