Quantity Surveyor - Cost Plan

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide cost plan during early stages of a project by conducting detailed feasibility studies and cost analysis.
  • Outline project objectives and provide cost advice. Work closely with design department to define the cost plan and identify financial constraints or opportunities.
  • Refine the initial cost plan, advising on procurement routes and strategies. Assist in developing the project brief, ensuring all cost implications are considered and aligned with client goals.
  • Prepare initial cost estimates and conduct value engineering exercises to ensure design aligns with the cost plan. Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Refine cost plan and conduct detailed cost checks against evolving design. Ensure spatial arrangements are cost-effective and any design changes are financially evaluated.
  • Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs):
    • Initial project documentation: collect architectural plans, engineering drawings, and specifications.
    • Itemisation and categorisation: review project documents and itemise all materials and labor required.
    • Quality control: review and cross-check BOQ to ensure accuracy and consistency.
    • Compliance and standards: ensure BOQs adhere to relevant standards and guidelines.
    • Final compilation: organise BOQ in a clear and understandable format, including a cover page with project details.
  • Provide detailed cost information and support the preparation of tender documents.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
  • Cost consultancy experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Planswift, AutoCAD, and BIM.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in quantity surveying.
